Nepal, officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked South Asian nation positioned along the majestic Himalayas between India and China. Universally renowned for containing eight of the world's ten tallest peaks—including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth—the country spans 147,181 square kilometers and hosts a population of roughly 29 million people. Kathmandu serves as its vibrant capital and cultural epicenter.
Despite its relatively small footprint, Nepal features dramatic topographical variations divided into three distinct zones: The Terai Plain: The low, fertile southern region bordering India, offering a tropical climate and rich agricultural yield. The Hilly Region (Pahad): The central belt comprising lush valleys and moderate mountain ranges, housing a large portion of the population. The Himalayan Region: The frigid northern alpine zone boasting perpetual snow and iconic peaks exceeding 7,000 meters.
